The Jerome Hynes' One-Act Play Series involves five original one-act plays written by University of Galway Students. It is occurring in conjunction with celebration of the Druid Theatre's 50th Anniversary.

Acting Masterclass with Max Hafler

Learn from the best in this acting masterclass led by Max Hafler. Explore the Michael Chekhov Technique and discover how to create powerful entrances and exits on stage. A must-attend for aspiring actors!

Playwriting Workshop with Maria Tivnan (Fregoli Theatre)

Wednesday, February 5th

Learn the art of playwriting from an experienced writer! This workshop covers structure, plot, dialogue, scenography, and character development. Ideal for aspiring playwrights

Stagecraft: Writing for Theatre with Maria Tivnan
- 12pm to 2pm, Wednesday the 5th, The View
Maria Tivnan with Fregoli Theatre is a writer with much experience who will coordinate a workshop on structure, plot, dialogue, scenography, and character for playwriting.

Mastering Costume for Theatre -
3pm to 5pm, Wednesday the 5th, The Space

Jenny Lyons will illuminate us on how to make some banging costumes! Jenny has worked with the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and did quite a bit for Dramsoc during her time studying here, as well as being an accomplished and incredibly talented cosplayer! The topic of the workshop will be the creative process of designing, practical aspect of making, sourcing, and maintaining costumes, and a general overview of the industry with information about potential career paths.

 

A Monologue Moment (with Time Lord Soc!)
- 5:30pm to 6:30pm, Wednesday the 5th, The Space
As a warm up we'll have a "Mad Lib Theatre" segment which will fill in the blanks of Dorothy's meeting of the two witches from the Wizard of Oz. The rest of the event will be a dedicated space for people to perform their favorite monologues from TV, theatre, movies, and more!

 

Directing for Stage with Andrew Flynn
- 12pm to 2pm, Friday the 7th, The Space
A workshop with Andrew Flynn of Decadent Theater Company on directing for the stage. Practical exercises and creative discussion will help aspiring and emerging directors get a better handle on directing.

 

Making Things Happen: Creating Great Events -
2:30pm to 3:30pm, Friday the 7th, The Space
A workshop surrounding creating engaging events with Púca Productions, a Galway based theatre and event production company. Neal McHugh and Noel Minogue will give insights on creating events, from initial conceptualization to execution of the event itself.

Poetry Night- 7pm to 9pm, Thursday the 6th, Secret Garden CaféIn the Secret Garden Café we will be having a chill Poetry Night, where Faye Harrison will be doing a rehearsed reading of her new script, followed by a poetry competition that anyone & everyone is free to participate in!
